Cathy Banks Review

Is Cathy Banks' AuctionWorkatHome.com a scam?

Auction Work at Home by Cathy Banks is a brand new course making its debut in people's email boxes all over the US.  The ad claims that she can show you how to make an extra $195+ a day with no prior experience, education, or special skills.

Cathy Banks goes on to say that you need to join her auction work at home program "right now" before all available spots are full.  This is complete marketing BS and her program will be around for as long as she can keep selling it, so before you shell out the $197 start-up fee read my review...

So What is Cathy Banks' Auction Work at Home Program...?

After you finish sorting through Cathy Banks' emotional account of losing her job and miraculously being introduced to this life changing work at home opportunity, you finally get to the meat of what you'll be doing.

Her program will train you as an auction entry specialist.  According to Cathy there are thousands of companies who will pay you to process their eBay auction listings simply because they don't want to do it themselves.

Through Auction Work at Home you will be given access to a wholesaling website with over one million products to choose from.  She also says that for each listing that you post you will be paid $13, and that's all you have to do.

Does This Auction Specialist Opportunity Really Exist or is it a Scam...?

At first glance this seems like a legitimate home business opportunity and really a simple way to make some money from home.  However when you start taking a closer look at what Cathy is really offering you can start to see the many holes in her proposal.

The first thing that doesn't "add up" with this opportunity is the example that they show you for listing the digital TV on eBay.  The picture shows the retail price of the TV at $1199.00 and the wholesale price is $762.84 with a difference of $437.  This means that even if the listing sells for $200 under retail price there is over $200 of profit to be made, so why are you getting paid only $13 to list this item???

One of the reasons for this is that Cathy Banks and Auction Work at Home may be running an eBay Proxy scheme.  In this method they pay unsuspecting people a good amount of money to post items on eBay using their personal accounts.  When the auction sells they do not deliver the item and your credit card is stuck with the bill to compensate the customer when they inevitably complain.

3 More Reasons Why You Should NOT Purchase AuctionWorkatHome.com...

1.  If by some miracle this is not a scam then you're better off paying the $197 start up fee to a wholesaling company for access to their low priced products.  That way you can be the one collecting the entire profits from the goods that you sell.

2.  The company, Auction Work at Home and Cathy Banks, do not appear to be legitimate.  On the website there are 3 different addresses listed all across the US.  The returns dept is in Utah, the address for Auction Work at Home is in Delaware, and somehow the terms and conditions of the website are governed by Minnesota Law.

Also, Cathy claims to be a reputable work at home consultant that's given seminars and speeches yet the only record of her is found on her own website, AuctionWorkatHome.com.

3.  Finally, probably the most convincing reason why not to purchase anything from Cathy Banks is the fact that her website looks identical to the infamous rebate processing series of websites, which have been responsible for scamming thousands of innocent people.

Note: If you came to this website because you're looking for a way to make money online then I suggest you take a look at my top recommendations. These are the best methods I've found that anyone can use to make money online, Click Here.

The whole thing is ascam. The supposed company does'nt even have an actual address, but only a p.o. box. The customer service reps seem to know little or nothing about how a person is supposed to recieve their refund. I have been waiting for almost a month for my refund. I got a headache trying to post items on e-bay so I decided to cancel. The website claims that refunds will be granted with no questions asked, however, It is taking them months to refund my money when it only took minutes for them to take it. STAY AWAY FROM AUCTION WORK AT HOME!!

I knew something was fishy about Cathy Banks, and decided to google it and found your site. It was a little obvious that it was a scam because of all of the misspelled words and grammatical errors all through out the whole web site. I also got directed to the on-line agent and tried to ask her ???? about things a computer couldn't answer. It kept trying to give me a deal of $50.00 off. Then I told the lady she was stupid, and she said they would not tolerate profanity. When did stupid become profane. She then tried to tell me to get back on track and purchase the product... Thank you for this site I know you are saving unsuspecting people their hard earned $$$$.
Thanks again... Almost duped..

I also received this info in my email and curiosity kept me reading. It did sound too good to be true and I have been scammed before by another WAH company so I googled Cathy Banks and glad I did. After reading all the comments in here I'm glad I didn't fall for it. Thanks! Oh and just cuz I could, I told the "computer operator" it was a scam and provided the link to this page (not that it will do any good but it amused me for the moment)

I have really been suckered. I have had a negative balance in my account all week waiting for my refund. Today Saturaday I collected all my change and now have a positive account of $12.00 until Dec.1st. I was downsized in July 2008 from my work.Being unemployed I was looking for a job opprotunity. So I thought I was being so careful of these scams. I am going to my bank and see if they can help me out like Debi Tacoma,WA- and call the US attorney General. Thanks!

Thank goodness I am a naturally skeptical person. I read the information and it it was 99% bs with very little hard information. I don't need pages of "Testimonials" I just want to know how it works. Period. This is one site I won't be using.

Took alot of time to read info about the site and how it worked. It seemed so easy and affordable.Boy was I wrong!!Not only was my credit card charged for the wrong amont (MORE)but, the site after I signed up gave me no direction to head.I followed the step by step insructions which advised me that it was best to purchase a domain to have my own web page.Only to find out it was not needed at$14.95.Other adds such as spending $24.95 just to get product to place on E-Bay..."What seems too good" ...you know the rest.I'm still working on getting the $14.95 refunded, however I most likely will not see it.I should have pulled up this Consumer review and it would have saved me alot of time and aggravation! Not to mention $$$$.BEST ADVICE--STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING TO DO WITH AUCTION WORK AT HOME ---SCAM A++

I am a builder and developer, and as you know, this business is dead! I have been looking for a work at home business for quite along time. I saw this and saved it to look at it later and think about it. I looked at it several times, reading about it over and over. Finally I clicked continue and the offer was $50.00 less, so I did it for #147.00, I thought! This was on 10/30/08. I found out today that they charged me $197.00. I tried to call, but no answer each time. This was a debit/credit card. Of course they used it as a debit card!! We have lost about everything we own, plus $180,000.00 cash. All total all most two million in cash and property. I can't afford people like this, and I guarantee you this, I won't rest until I find out how to stop her, or cause as much trouble for her, she will wish that I never would have sent her my money!! thanks for what you are doing. I hope people will read your site before sending their money to her. Please, there are a lot of people hurting today financially. Is there anyway you can help us find legitimate work at home business's out there?

Hey Everyone! I got all my money back since I last posted here...not from Cathy Banks, however. My bank (Washington Mutual)went after DRI (the 3rd party that collected the money from my account) as a fraud returned item last week and the money was back in my account yesterday! Please pass this word on to give hope to those who have invested in Cathy Banks AuctionWorkatHome program. Also, I filed a claim with the Attorney General in Washington State. If everyone does this in their home state it may reach the attention of the US Attorney General and perhaps then Cathy Banks and all others like her can be deterred from doing this to more innocent people.

I wish that I had seen this before I paid 147 dallors. I am knee deep in it and have been very up set even before I found these comments. Well from my experience the program is not what they said it would be. First of all the main thing they have you doing is building a web site, openning an ebay sellers account, and a paypal account, like to forgot the doba account. At the end of all that I was like what happen to the listing items on ebay. Thats when they told me the process to list item on ebay for doba. It did not work!! By this time my 7 day free trial with doba was up and it was time to pay them for the month. The support team for auction work at home sent a email they gave me a phone number to call if the listing process did not work. I call and they went through the process with me and I came to a blank page and they said that the blank page ment that it went through. I list about seven things and went to my ebay account and they was not there. I call them and they said that it was a problem with the system and they had the soltware programmers working on it at this time. I was on my way there when I saw these comments. Now I am really angry. Over all this is what I think the program is. They went to doba.com and got an account and started listing things for doba and is trying to get people to list doba item for them. that mean that they get the money left over from selling the item after they pay doba and you. Doba get the whole sale we get 13 dallors and they get the rest. I say that because you can list for doba yourself. I'll have to see if its any comments on they first. well time to go get my money back. thanks

Hm, initial fee of $197.00? Sounds familiar. Doesn't Angel Stevens' Success Team Work At Home, also a complete fraud, charge this exact amount? I suspect Cathy Banks = Angel Stevens. By all means, avoid this company like the plague.

Hi, I been out of work for 4 months, my reserve money is running out then i get this e-mail from "Cathy Banks" with the same pitch for 197.00. I was going to close it out then POP! this window comes up and it's "Jennifer" who made this great offer to take off 50.00 but it was a one time offer. I almost fell for it then I asked for her last name, here's the reply I got "MY NAME IS JENNIFER" DUH, I asked for her last name. Then I was just asking random ???? but all I got was more attempts to join. I then typed nice scam good luck with it, then I googled the name & I wasn't suprised when I read the reviews. Thank very much for keeping good honest people informed about these internet bandits.

This company is a fruad. My husband decided to purchase this auction work crap. we were trying to use his credit card, it would not go through so he used mine and it went through fine. Well the next day we decided to cancel they told my husband it would take 7-14 business days. Here it is 15 business days later and still no refund. I called them and told them. Their excuse was there was an error and I would have to wait ANOTHER 7-14 business days. ALSO we got a bill from my husband's credit card...they charged his for the same thing. When we called them on it they said well it went through so I had to wait another 7-14 business days for his. Which is crap. My husband called his bank and thank goodness they are going to make a complaint. WE NEED TO SHUT THESE PEOPLE DOWN!!!!!

I signed up for this thinking that it would be great, but it did sound like too good of a deal. It was. I wanted to post listings for other companies in 3-4 easy steps and get paid the $13 a listing. Instead after I got the "bonus deal" for $147, I was directed to their website where you BUILD YOUR OWN WEBSITE and post your own listings. I was instantly mad and knew that it was indeed a scam. I tried to call the number on the page that I had printed out. I tried 3 times, waited at the most 31 minutes on hold, for no one to ever pick up. The following day I received a phone call form my "coach" to get my site up and running. I told him that I didn't pay to have my own site and that I was upset that the website has misleading information. I told him I wanted to cancel. He was very nice, explained that he didn't have any part of the account side and that a lot of people have the same response about their webpage. He did, however; provide me with a phone number to their customer service that works! Here it is if you're still waiting on hold for no one to ever answer! 1-877-317-0194 The man who answered the call after only 2 minutes of waiting was very short with me and would barely let me express myself. He was enthusiastic when he answered and assured me he could help me get started with my website. I countered that the website is misleading and not what people are told that they are getting into. He gave me my confirmation number for my cancellation and got me off the phone as fast as he could. I asked how long it would take to get my money back and he told me 3-10 days. I'm on day 3 and waiting... I wish there was a way to shut these people down! Good luck and keep your money!

This is funny, listen. It sounded good at first, then reality set in. Then I talked to the computer representative, who then offers me just 50 dollars to join. That was a great deal I thought and a big drop. Then reality set in, the (computer) rep. couldnt give me a straight answer. So the price shot back up to 145 dollars. I asked what happend to the 50 dollar deal. I guess it froze or didnt have a responce for that because I didnt get anymore replys. SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR SOMETHING ELSE, LIKE GAS, AND FOOD

Well, I was a sucker and spent my money. Fortunately, with a credit card, you can cancel the transaction and the credit card company has to find out more. So, don't ever do it with a bank account!!!

Good job to everyone who posted here with REAL testimonials. I especially liked the part in the offer about having 7 years experience and then later in the offer, refer back to taking 15 years to learn a skill now offered in the certification package. It looks enticing. But just anything on the internet, which is real? which is not? It is worth making the research before jumping in. About the chat.. well, I suspect it is computer generated. I opened and closed the same site and similar messages which seem to be scripted automatically come out. They just change the names from a list. It can be done with a software. Just give it a try and you will know the website was designed to anticipate rejection. So, just like what a hard salesman would do, the system automatically gives you an offer. To make it look real, they change the names. If the message was typed by a human, it would not spell out the words that easy in one shot. No one is perfect enough to get the words spelled correctly in one shot. Humans make a mistake with spelling and will erase it. With chat, one can see that happen. But it never did happen here. Everything is perfect and repeatable. Only a computer can do that.

I really thought I had found a home based business. I purchased the business for $147.00 and I've been trying to figure out what to do next since the program comes with no directions. I looked for a phone # and after calling and getting to speak to someone, she wanted to know thing that I felt were irrelevant to how to get started. The lady asked how much money did me and my husband make, did we have a credit card, and finally how was my credit. Immediately I felt uneasy, after the questions, she told me that someone would call me back if I qualified! The products that they say you will have access to;you have to pay a monthly fee. I haven't cancelled as of this moment, but I will, after reading the reviews here.If they don't refund your money just call your bank and they will refund you and go after Cathy Banks. Hope this helps someone.

I bought the program, and to my surprise, wasn't GIVEN any training/info about processing auctions for companies. Instead, they give you "membership" to a "build your own webstore" type site using wholesalers. It has NOTHING to do with what their landing page (sales page) was trying to sell! (Processing auction for other companies). Plus, I was never sent a confirmation email or an email receipt for my purchase! And when I called the customer service #, she said they don't "handle emails". So what they heck does customer service do?!?!? And when I asked her why I was sent to a build your own webstore site and not provided with any training materials on processing auctions, she just stammered some nonsense and put me on hold. Then 1 minute later, I was hung up on! So I called back today and cancelled. I got a refund confirmation #... let's just hope they follow through with my refund! Is there ANY easy to do legitimate home based business out there?!?!?!

Someone needs to shut this scam down. We almost fell for it but after declining this offer the guy got Really rude with us and told us we wasted His time. They try to drag you down with their BS and then wipe you out. With credit so hard to come by this is a shame.
Don't fall for it . Its a scam .

Thanks for this, I know you helped a lot of people. No wonder she's a "millionaire". Its' easy to make money when you steal it from people instead of working for it.

WARNING! Cathy even goes as far as to try and STOP you from exiting the site. Say you choose to close the wondow & NOT buy, well she asks you to click cancel on the next pop up. This pop up tell you of even MORE SPECIAL offer. You click CANCEL and a "chat" window pops up. She offers an ADDITIONAL $50 OFF this "ALREADY GREAT" deal taking it down to $147! No way to really know if its a computer or person. I asked and it said they were a person. Still I never got any real answerd to direct concerns such as how could I pay if I didn't have a bank account.

So pretty much, DONT BUY!

Listen The whole deal oc Cathy Banks as mentioned has to many holes in it. Again as mentioned you can do business with a drop shipper and control your own accounts and profits not to mention your good credit. Cathy Banks, Jeff Paul and the likes are just taking your money because it is a numbers game. Cathy get truthful. Prove to your audience your claims and do the business yourself if it is so good. I sell on ebay and for others as well. $13.00 a listing is ridiculous as a claim. Good Luck Cathy Banks and hopefully you don't take to many good Americans hard earned money. rp

After paying the $197, I read the reviews on this scam and immediately reversed the process, I am getting my money back. I am so happy that I looked and saw the reviews on this supposedly money making opportunity. I usually check on things before I get into them. Thanks again for the information.

I don't think this is legitimate. How can u just send $197 to someone u don't know and yet what if the goods aren't delivered to the bidders? I guess ebay will trace all of our credit cards.

5 stars to you! All the work-at-home jobs I have looked into have read exactly the same way, with exception the person's name. I would love to get into a start-up home business because I am disabled due to radiation treatments and am bored to death. I am glad I decided to check on Cathy Banks, but even more glad that you wrote about her. The only thing is the website you want to send people to... is it for real? Hmmmmmmm
Thanks again for your insight.

Wow! I just got this email today and I was already beginning to plan out my entire future with Cathy Banks' sells pitch. Fortunately for me, or perhaps unfortunately, I have already been ripped off from a couple of other businesses that didn't hold up their end of the bargain and NOW I'm much more aware of BS claims like Cathy's. I really appreciate your insight on this potential scam because I'm a freshmen at UF and I don't $197 to simply "throw away" on some "miracle" work-at-home job.

Thank you for giving me the 411 on Cathy Banks. I did think about sending in the money but her example with the tv just didn't sound right to me.
Sending her money before I recieved money was not an option.

"WOW" This is just amazing! How can a person run a scam like this? You would think that the government or someone would come up with a way to stop this sort of nonsense. I am embarressed to say that 2 or 3 years ago I was scammed on the internet for over $5000 with a fruadulent cashiers check. I deposited it, waited for it to clear, withdrew the funds, held up to my end of the deal and my ass is still sore to this day from the f-----g I got. The way our economy is and how desperate people are to get ahead or even for that matter people are easy targets. The old saying is typically the truth... "IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS". Be careful people...there are some sick people in this world!!!

I am glad I found you with your comments about Cathy Banks' program. My suspicion of not seeing any address or location where Cathy Banks was doing business from led me to seach and found your site.

I really appreciate people like you who take the time to educate people about some scams perpetuated around.

Just found this offer from Cathy Banks in my e-mail, sounds good, too good to be true, so I made a litle reaserch and I apreciated the input from this site, also found that she graduated from the Cape Town University in "SOUTH AFRICA", were acording to Linkedin.com is where her bussines is.
I think I just save myself some money, and probably a bunch of problems by not geting involved.

hi, just came from this Cathy Banks website, and I must tell you that this is similar to a scam that has been circulating known as Angela Penbrook/Angel Stevens rebate processing work.
They also ask for $197.00 for the program and $15.00 for each rebate, using Clickbank products.
They have scammed many, including myself, but when I realized what was happening, I disputed the charge with my credit card co. and got my funds back. Many were not so fortunate. I agree completely with the above comments by Steve. This is just another version of con artists preying on honest people who only want to do some work at home in an honest way. The economy is hard on everyone right now, and they are taking advantage of whomever they can to fill their pockets with money. Don't be taken in even if you find them on reputable job sites, as these sites get the money from the advertising, yes, but it is up to the buyer, YOU, to do your "due diligence" in checking out these companies and protecting yourself. I was taken once and they are are indeed very believable and very slick, appealing to what we all need.
But never again!!!! Click away from their websites before it's too late.
Take Care,

I unlike so many others purchased this scam and I am pissed! Dont get hooked into paying for the consulting fee she contracted out. At a minimum of two thousand dollars you can have access to these internet business owners who act as your business mentors (BS). Thanks though, you will save thousands of niave people trying to make an honest living from being gouged by these criminals.

I took the time to read through most of the email that I received because I am looking for a work at home position, but the first indication to me that Cathy Banks' program is a scam is simply the amount of typing errors and incorrect grammar in the advertisement. A truly reputable company would have proofed that advertisement thoroughly. I immediately began researching the advertisement and found your review. Thank's!
