Auction Work at Home by Cathy Banks is a brand new course making its
debut in people's email boxes all over the US. The ad claims that she can
show you how to make an extra $195+ a day with no prior experience, education,
or special skills.
Cathy Banks goes on to say that you need to join her auction work at home program
"right now" before all available spots are full. This is complete marketing
BS and her program will be around for as long as she can keep selling it, so
before you shell out the $197 start-up fee read my review...
So What is Cathy Banks' Auction Work at Home Program...?
After you finish sorting through Cathy Banks' emotional account of losing her job
and miraculously being introduced to this life changing work at home
opportunity, you finally get to the meat of what you'll be doing.
Her program will train you as an auction entry specialist. According to
Cathy there are thousands of companies who will pay you to process their eBay
auction listings simply because they don't want to do it themselves.
Through Auction Work at Home you will be given access to a wholesaling
website with over one million products to choose from. She also says that
for each listing that you post you will be paid $13, and that's all you have to
do.
Does This Auction Specialist Opportunity Really Exist
or is it a Scam...?
At first glance this seems like a legitimate home business opportunity and
really a simple way to make some money from home. However when you start
taking a closer look at what Cathy is really offering you can start to see the
many holes in her proposal.
The first thing that doesn't "add up" with this opportunity is the example
that they show you for listing the digital TV on eBay. The picture shows
the retail price of the TV at $1199.00 and the wholesale price is $762.84 with a
difference of $437. This means that even if the listing sells for $200
under retail price there is over $200 of profit to be made, so why are you
getting paid only $13 to list this item???
One of the reasons for this is that Cathy Banks and Auction Work at Home may
be running an eBay Proxy scheme. In this method they pay unsuspecting
people a good amount of money to post items on eBay using their personal
accounts. When the auction sells they do not deliver the item and your
credit card is stuck with the bill to compensate the customer when they
inevitably complain.
3 More Reasons Why You Should NOT Purchase
AuctionWorkatHome.com...
1. If by some miracle this is not a scam then you're better off paying
the $197 start up fee to a wholesaling company for access to their low priced
products. That way you can be the one collecting the entire profits from
the goods that you sell.
2. The company, Auction Work at Home and Cathy Banks, do not appear to
be legitimate. On the website there are 3 different addresses listed all
across the US. The returns dept is in Utah, the address for Auction Work
at Home is in Delaware, and somehow the terms and conditions of the website are
governed by Minnesota Law.
Also, Cathy claims to be a reputable work at home consultant that's given
seminars and speeches yet the only record of her is found on her own website,
AuctionWorkatHome.com.
3. Finally, probably the most convincing reason why not to purchase
anything from Cathy Banks is the fact that her website looks identical to the
infamous rebate processing series of websites, which have been responsible for
scamming thousands of innocent people.
Are There Any Legitimate Work At Home Programs...?
Absolutely there are! The U.S. Government estimates that
nearly a million Americans use the Internet to earn a living. I'm very
fortunate to be able to say that I'm one of those people myself. It wasn't
all that easy though...
I spent the last 3 years researching literally hundreds of work at home
businesses and opportunities. Their costs ranged from only a few dollars
to hundreds and even thousands of dollars to start. Almost without
exception they were downright scams offering only unrealistic earnings claims and the
odds of making an actual living stacked high against you.
Eventually I came to find what I consider to be the best online job out
there, and one I still use it to this day to make a great living from home.
This opportunity costs nothing to start and gives you the ability to make money
within an hour of starting. If you want to know more just let me know
where to send you the info Click Here.
Best of Luck,
Steve Albright

Omg, I am so frustrated and disappointed that these damn scams exist!!! I have spent countless research hours on the net to find that right gig. But over and over again my search becomes my dreadful reality that it's a scam. If anyone is actually doing a successful program, making money, please be a dear and drop us a line of direction. I am grateful for the people who take the time to inform us of the FREE information that this/that one is not the one. Well back to research for me. Thank you!

Did i get caught! I am so depressed and the economy has got us down like everybody else. I fell for the damn scam; paid $97 and have been going through the lessons daily. I knew something was askew but when careerbuilder.com has it listed, it's gotta be good, right? BS! Something kept gnawing at me and I was at lesson 7. I googled some things tonight and found this sight. Thanks a million. I called my credit card company and they have cancelled my card so that no charges can be added and will be sending me some forms to file. I will be calling tomorrow (Monday), since no one answers tonight! We'll see what happens! Too good to be true! What are good, honest, "wanting to work" people supposed to do in this economy?

My account is SO drained that this program looked like my miracle come true. I thought this program was going to be my way out of debt and on to a better life.
Good thing I didn't have the cash to put down right away.
Good thing that I found this site before blowing cash that needs to be put to better use elsewhere.
I'm SO dissappointed and still in NEED of a better way to make money from home.

Everyone on these boards who wants to pay $97 dollars for a JOB get a freaking life. You never pay money for a job. But it does take money to make money. These businesses are created as a lead source for companies offering mentoring. They actually help people and they helped me out as well.

Like many of the folks who have left a review here... I was between a rock and a hard place having lost my job. What is really disappointing is that I came by the Emily Thomas Auction Listing Agent job listing through CareerBuilder.com which I though made it sound like it was the real deal... and I was all set to send in my $97.00 when for some reason... I decided to google Emily Thomas and see what I got... given that she claimed to be the world's leading and biggest name in the "work at home" industry.I found almost nothing... which made me very skeptical and as I scrolled down through the list generated by Google I found the name Kathy Banks... and ended up here at this site. It took the wind out of my sales as I read all the reviews... but also made me glad I had made the effort to check out who Emily Thomas was. I can only hope that everyone who follows after me and finds the Emily Thomas website does what I did... and learns the truth... that this is one well crafted scam... and ... read more»

I am a retired Government employee looking for something interesting to do while making some decent money at the same time, when I spotted this Cathy Banks ad. It sounded great until I did a little investigatory work conducted on my behalf by a Justice Department attorney. The program is a scam, just like I first suspected, and for all the same reasons all persons have written on this site. From what I understand, Banks and her lackeys are being investigated by a couple of Federal agencies, two being the Federal Trade Commission and Justice Department. This is a superb site doing wonderful work to protect consumers subject to scams like the one Banks and her sinister cabal of thieves are perpetrating. Don't fork out a dime to her. Let the authorities do their work on her.

Hello,
Thank you for whomever put up this blog. Cathy Banks, Angela Stevens, Linda Pierce, and Emily Thomas, same scam, same story. It's amazing these work at home opportunities. If you've seen over 20 of them like I have, you start to see some similarities. Like their stories start out the same and other nonsense. Thanks to this site and scams.com I'm on the alert, and keeping my credit card in my wallet till I read the fine fine print. Thanks for google!

I just received an e-mail from an emily thomas, who is advertising her auction listing program, and who I guess is the same person as sweet Cathy "the b****" Banks. Man this chaps my hide. I figured I'd check it out further before I made any decisions under pressure, and am I ever glad I did. Follow these rules: 1. If it looks to good to be true, it is. 2. If they contact you be warry. 3. If they need money from you to get you started, be warry. Thanks Steve, for this sight.

People are so desperate right now with this economy that they want to believe and they also can't understand that someone would want to rip them off like this. Who would you contact to report her? I will be checking it out and will come back and let people know as they might want to file a complaint also. I never heard of Cathe Banks, but I have recieved more than one email from Emily Thomas - recruiter for work-at-home job opportunities. The second time I received this proposal I recognized that it has become more sophisticated in it's marketing message then the first email I recived several months ago. I am grateful that I decide to Google info on this "job opportunity" and found this site. My instincts warned me that if it sounds too good to be true, then it's a scam...and apparently that's exactly what is is. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on whoever is cooking this up. What can we do help stop these types of scams?

Wow thank you guys for this post because I was going another item I called the # on the the website and the phone rang forever and I thought to myself this don't sound good then a man's voice saying to leave a MSG or call back again. From them I said no they even had another popout to over me the program for only $$99 at this point am saying I better grab it before its too later, I waited and gave it a thought over and over. Why I finally choose not to buy this auction work at home with cathy was that the first time I was on the site said there was only three possisions left and two weeks after I went on the site again it was still saying hurry only three possions left. That was when I said this a SCAM

I've been searching for a work at home program and the email was from career builder. I opened it was searching and this ad sounded so good so I checked it out it was for Work At Home Recruiters and they had openings in my area for auction listing agents, Emily Thomas, was gonna show me how easy it is to make money listing items on ebay for various companies. The disclaimer at the bottom of the page said they had no affiliation or permission to use the logos of the companies they had listed on the site. hmmm! so I googled the company, listing agents, and Emily Thomas and I ended up here. So glad I didn't waste my money.

Chapa Media, inc. Chapa's terms and disclaimers for their subscribers (Cathy Banks)completely resolve them of any responsibility
The company that pays you $5 per listing receives the "clean money" from the auction, and your credit card, which is listed in your personal E-bay account, gets back-charged for the price of the item when the innocent E-bayer demands their money back. By the time you try to contact your employer, they are long gone.
I had not until I received her email. Looked good so I sent the $100+ dollars and have never been able to log onto the actual site to do anything. Hummmmm, looks like a scam to me.
From another contributor
Cathy Banks advertises that you can earn $13.00 by posting products for companies and earn upwards and beyond of $195.00 a day.
First you are asked to join for $197.00 when you don't another window pops up and now you can join for $147.00 imagine that !!!

This Rings of the most intrusive scam to your bank account and credit ever.
I have been Using eBay for over ten years now - I can tell you this.
NEVER trust anyone to ship anything for you if you care about your name and reputation. EVER. If You do not have it in your possession - do not list it.
Can You Imagine listing something as new and the person who bought the item gets a poorly packed bulk shipped item with no tracking? Then the person realizes this when he receives his box of crap and tells pay pal he never got that item.?
Now what do you do?
I will tell you - the money flies out of your hands, You get crap feedback and your good name is tarnished forever.
How Bout this one - You list the item - the pay pal account the money goes to is not even your own ( i believe thats how this works actually)
the item sells - the person either never gets the item - Gets a reman version of the item - gets extremely slow shipping Or countless other things go w... read more»

Oh My Goodness! I am so glad that I googled Cathy Banks. I have to admit that the offer sounded good. Almost as good as some of the other home based businesses that are scams. Are there any home based businesses that are not scams? I am an honest, God fearing woman looking to make some money from home so I can still be with my family and be my own boss. But it seems like all the home based businesses are just out to get paid and they are all scams. It is so good that so many of you actually checked out Cathy Banks. This is such a rip off. You pay you $197. in good faith thinking you can get started in a short time making a little extra cash, and when you get to the grand "Congratulations" page, you have nothing, no info. to get you started, not even a stinking password to get on their site. All there is ,is a phone number 1 877 317 0196 that you think will hook you up ,as they promise a one on one consultation. But all these people want to know is how much credit your cc companies will extend to you, and they want a very precise number too, because " as you know , it takes money to make money " . And when you refuse to fork over and more cash, that you just want to give the basic system a try, as after all, you have not even had a chance yet to try it, they just leave you high and dry with nothing. They will not answer any email, nothing, Is there nothing we can do to shut them down ?

If I were a greedy, unethical, and completely irresponsible, criminal minded individual...this would be the best business ever. You have to be an idiot to fall for this B.S. C.Banks basically wants us to serve as the middle person for selling her products at wholesale products for her profits, while we carry (own) the legal responsibilities of the transactions getting completed. Obviously, do not use this product unless you are involved with a law enforcement agency.

The Cathy Bates program does not work and IS a scam. You pay $197 like everyone else regardless of what her offer says. Then when paid you are asked to pay more for other stuff to get started. Then you get a call from "one of her people" and they decide whether you qualify for the program by checking the max charge limit available on your credit card. If you have a lot you are qualified. Then when you start this work you gain $13 and this company is supose to gain the difference between the retail and wholesale cost from the customers purchase. The item(s) purchased never gets delivered to the customer. they complain to e-bay and your credit card takes the hit of the cost of purchase. Example: dvd player ... retail is $120, wholesale is $60. Customer pays $60 and never receives item. Your credit card gets a $60 deduction to refund the customers money. The Cathy Banks Action WorkAtHome gains $60 from a purchase you had to refund. If this sounds like a good business decision for you go r... read more»

i truly understand that many people are looking to make ends meet, however, this is the 21 century. do you folks really believe that it's easy to make money these days. folks when you read or see something like these, 99% out of 100% it's a scam. people like cathy exists because there many folks that are desperate and truly believe that there is such a thing as easy money. and so, people signed up. sorry, no such thing as easy money never . it's too bad innocent people get burned. they don't deserve that. i hope FBI will look into this asap.

If I only knew that there was a very negative response from this Cathy Banks making money at home scam, then I wouldn't be kicking my self in the #$@! right about now and yet the damage is done, the only thing I can do now is put a complaint with my bank and try to fight to get my money back,I know there is a small chance close to non to get revenge, but I've learned my lesson unfortunately it cost me $195.00 US dollars. Shame on them.

when it takes you to the chat with a representative I asked why does your ad say 90 day money back guarantee and one time fee but when u offer me a lower price now u say its a 30 day guarantee with a monthly fee as well. When I asked why she just kept saying it was a application and processing fee. So I asked if I pay the higher price is there still a monthly fee, she just kept repeating her previous answer. I then insulted her and she thanked me and said I get that alot. I refreshed the screen and went to chat with another agent and when she could not answer my questions she said,I'm sorry i'm new and doing the best I can. Wow people what kind of tech support is that.

Above someone posted a bunch of technical info. For those that understand it here is the info for a site called doesitbank.org. This site claims to be an independent site that reviews CANT MISS work at home jobs. The registrar info is the exact same, which means these people are writing reviews for them self on an other site claiming to be independent reviewers. This is just a horrible bunch of criminals. Hope the FBI gets wind of this. Here is the tech info.

WOOOOW!!What a disappointment, my husband and I were just about to sign up with our last 197.00, as a matter of fact, he is out putting money on the card right now! when he gets home, I'm gonna have to tell him this was a scam and then rain on his parade! Damn you Cathy Banks, thanks for nothing and F*ck you very much. Shame on you for getting peoples hopes up and ripping them to shreds for the bargain price of 197.00 dollars. DON'T DO IT!! Thank you for this website, now we can use this 197.00 to put food in our kids mouths instead.

After researching Cathy Banks & her possible ties to Angel Stevens(who took me for $197.00) I can't help but ask why any consumer protection agency hasn't found these thieves & prosecute them for their crimes. The only way these con artists will be stopped is if they are put in jail where they belong & remain locked up until they have repaid every innocent person they have stolen from.

The program sold for $197. but if you felt that was too much some one comes on and try's to get you buy in at a lower price mine was $99.00 then I was typing to a on line chat to three others at diff. times Linda, Karen and Kelly after giving the $99.00, Two Hour Later my bank called and asked me about the charges I asked what charges then they Listed all three $197., $99. and another $99.00 thank god they called so now the bank is taking steps all four B**i**t**c**h's belong behind bars the phone # I was given 1-877-317-0196 ext:600 it didn't work and a 1-800-715-1074 in fine print at the bottom of the page So save your self, and don't give a dime and report everything to the FBI in your local town or city

I scanned the comments, only noticed one that was favorable. I suspect it could be someone from Cathy Banks Co. who posted the comment. I don't know if it's a scam, but when someone toots their own horn without reference to who considers her number one and number one in what? I didn't go for it. Hey man, you can make money in almost anything if you want, but it appears that most of these programs are virtually worthless. Thanks to previous postings.

I fell for the scam as well. I did everything last Friday, and started going through the tutorials, etc and realized it was taking forever and found out you had to go to so many other sites... I decided to cancel today and received my confirmation number... for a couple days I have had an 801 number calling me from Utah. I work full time, so unable to answer my phone... I finally answered and this gal introduced herself and said she was with Cathy Banks. I told her I canceled today... she stated it was okay and they have other opportunities to make money. I told her I wasn't interested and would like to be removed from their list. She was kind of rude, and stated you don't want to make money. I again stated I wasn't interested and to remove me from the list and that they call a million times a day... She then stated "well you never answer your phone"... again in a very rude tone... I told her I work full time already and asked for her name and she hung up, I tried calling the number ba... read more»

I signed up yesterday and was promised Cathy's email address , plus free 30 minute consultation. I thought to set up the web sites . It wasn't ,they wanted me to give them a thousand dollars to get training and were very insulting. Their customer service is linked to another site that took hundreds out of my account before I knew what was going on and took days to get my money back. One thing that remember is that credit cards can be charged back . But act quickly before they disappear for good.

I too was seduced by the ad. But I always do a product review before pulling out the credit card. Glad that I have est. that procedure as money is too hard to come by to give it to a crook

I too almost signed up via an email from Cathy Banks. But when I tried to exit the website I was offered a discount, so my cost would only be $99. But I decided to google "Cathy Banks" first. So glad that I did - they won't be getting my $99.
So sorry for those who like me, believed her, and then signed up. I do hope you get your money back. It's a shame that scammers are taking advantage of those in financial need.

well, i don't want to praise this company, but i can't put them down either. i signed up for it, but the process was to time consuming and complicated for me. i didn't go all the way thru the process because it was tricky and worried me. but, it seems to be a process that would work if you had time and quiet to study it and understand it(which i don't). their web page made it sound much more simple than it was. and, i was able to call the one on one support, and also got an answer at the tech support number which is the number i called for my refund. although i just called to cancel today, if i don't get my refund i will let you know. so in all i would be cautious of this or any of these companies, but again it sounds like it could work.

Considered purchase of program. Glad I checked it out first. Found only one good review out of many. I'm just guessing that J.T. of California must be part of the scam; Or the luckiest person alive and should immediately buy a lottery ticket.

Well..Thank The universe for giving me the inspiration to "Check this site out" Thank you.. all of you wonderful links that investigate these scamming companies for us. I feel that it is so shameful for Americans to be taking advantage of their fellow Americans this way. Times are bad and all people want to do is find some way to supplement or make a living . I have become very ill and, can no longer hold a meaningful job...and staying at home working is my best option.

I bought this program 5 months ago, and have used it successfully. I have heard that a lot of people are saying it is a scam, but based on this post, you don't get it, cause they dont pay you directly, they give you all the tools to list and dropship products, so products do go out to the customer. This program helped me learn how to become an Ebay seller, gave me a website that i use successfully with a store, and i make good money listing products... but the money comes from listing at wholesale, and selling at retail, not from them... i think there is confusion. I have successfully sold over 500 items through this program.

I bought this program on Sunday, got my username/password.loged in, and it was extremely complicated.I just decided to cancel this stupid thing, dialed 800-715-1074 she said 7 to 14 days for refund... Got a call one day later(today) from Chris Mckenzie from Thrive Learning Institute.(www.whythrive.com) What he said sounded really good. I told him i already canceled my subscription he said that it did not matter they have a separate program for themselves and there's no point in trying to use two(WHAT??)! I told Chris to call me back next Tuesday to talk about this some more.

Complete scam! Anything legitimate job offer online is not going to pressure you to buy ANYTHING from them as this site does. They even go so far as to cut the price in half if you try to navigate away from the site. If it seems to good to be true it almost always is.... Sorry folks - don't fall for it!

I have NEVER fallen for one of these scams but I was really close to pullin' out the ol' credit card. It just sounded to good to be true and lets face it, people do terrible things to decent people all the time. So sorry to everyone who signed up, it did look promising. Beware, there will be a lot of predators out there during these hard times. Be kind but be safe.

I fell for this scam about an hour ago, then I ran into problems when I tried to registry on the e-bay site but I could not get in using the sign in name and password that "work at home" had given me. Lucky for me I found this site when I was trying to locate this Cathy Banks. I called the bank and was told that the charge 0f $99.00 had not yet been applied against my account. I closed the account. This is a scam and I don't want this woman charging anything else against me. Why won't the law stop her? This is unforgivable.

I am so glad I looked into this before I gave that lady my money. I have been unemployed for 6 months now, and I am starting to lose my mind here. I have been holding on to my income taxes because I want to stretch them as far as possible, and I thought to research this before I "invested" $145 into myself, as I thought i would be doing with this program. If I had not read your article, I would have been very upset and haunted by the hundreds of ways I could have blown that money to my benefit.

For all of you who paid Cathy Banks and didn't get your refund, I would immediately call your credit card companies. They have insurance to cover
fraud. And can provide a "charge back" if you can prove you did not receive product or service
ordered.
I too got the email today and found myself directed here. and had myself immediately removed from their mailing list.
